Summary/Objective of Position:
Adjunct faculty is responsible for instruction, assessment, advising, committee work, and service to the College.  
One position per Dine College Campus sites (Shiprock and Crownpoint). Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience.

  • Instruction and curriculum.  Adjunct are hired by semester basis, depending on instructional need basis.Times, days, and site(s) for teaching of courses vary and mode of delivery may include distance education,zoom and blackboard. As a multi site college an adjunct faculty may be required to teach at satellite centers. Assessment of courses and programs, academic advising and mentoring. Collaboration with the College through student advising, service learning, etc.
  • It is a policy that an adjunct faculty may not teach more than 9 credit per semesters.
  • There are no medical/dental benefits provided to adjunct faculty. State and federal taxes, FICA and social security will be withheld for all adjunct faculty

Knowledge:
Oral fluency in Navajo is required and literacy skills in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory. 

  1.  An adjunct faculty is expected to have a high degree of proficiency in computer software used to support the administration of higher education.  Software use include but is not limited to, general office functions such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet services. In addition, an adjunct faculty is expected to utilize academic-specific programs for course delivery (Face-to-face, synchronous, and asynchronous), and course maintenance (Such as grade submissions, posting of syllabus, etc.)  
  2. As noted, an adjunct faculty may be required to travel to and teach at the Crownpoint site.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication;

Abilities:

  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations; 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising difficult situations and in making appropriate decisions in regards to grades;

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

  • Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite as well as proficiency with creating and using databases.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have a teacher certificate in related fields.
  • This position is part-time and salary is $650 per credit hour (based on course offering per semester).

Minimum:

  • For teaching of 300-400 level courses:  Minimum of a masters' degree attained in the respective disciplines with a minimum of 18 credit hours of upper division and/or graduate credit in the discipline to be taught with demonstration of extensive or specialized discipline knowledge.  (PPPM 400.12.rev.02.09)
